About Me!

our fumbling homestead

Welcome to my website! Please join me as I take you through daily life on a homestead. Together we will raise chickens (and hopefully goats) organic garden, create DIY projects for home and yard, and basically fumble through it all together while we learn,  teach each other and share projects and advice. Most of my posts and pages will have everyday use items, and items that are easily accessible for you to find so you can re-create them. I like cheap and I like easy!

I am a registered nurse, a mother, and a grandmother who lives in Southern Colorado and I am a mountain girl through and through. I have lived in Colorado all my life and have no plans to live anywhere but in Colorado. My husband and I have purchased a 10 acre property in the Colorado mountains (8,000 feet! Yikes, we currently live at 5, 300 feet) and we are going to create a sustainable homestead on it. I would much rather play in the dirt than go shopping and I would much rather make my own tinctures, soaps, candles and creams than buy them.

I have suffered from super sensitive skin for most of my life and I have had to learn how to make my own chemical free products for face and body, including my own laundry soap and lotions. I would love to share my “secret recipes” with you! I can tell people that I can actually eat my beauty products! Can you say that? Nope, didn’t think so! But you will be able to tell people that soon as you follow along and we can create together. I always love when my readers give me new organic, all natural beauty or cleaning product recipes for me to try! Make sure to follow me on facebook  since this is a site I have alot of wonderful recipes from myself and other wonderful bloggers and DIY beauty and cleaning creators! https://www.facebook.com/homemadethenaturalandorganicway/

I have raised chickens, grown an extensive organic garden, and made several (hundreds!) different creams and tinctures with medicinal herbs. I have even had a worm farm! Gardening at 8,000 feet will be a challenge, but I am always up for a good challenge! Thank you for joining me on my journey and feel free to give me any comments and advice on the way!
